The Explorer Lieutenant (Lt) is the second highest rank an Explorer can hold in the FW Program. The Lt. would take the place of the Cmdr when s/he is absent

The Lt. position is divided into two catagories; Admin and Tactical.

The Admin Lt is responsible for the administrative operation of the post at the Explorer Level.  S/he performs the paperwork part of the post, this includes logging hours, and tracking overall attendance.   

The Tactical Lt. is responsible for Explorer operation at events.  S/he would determine staffing needs and direct Explorers after being briefed by the Advisor prior to the event.    Equipment at the events would also be the responsibility of the Tac Lt.

Both Lts are assigned a squad of Explorers to manage for the purpose of attendance, discipline and training.  Depending on the size of the post, maximum span of control would be seven(7) Explorers.  Additional Lts would be added if needed.

The Lt would wear a single gold bar on the uniform to distinguish rank.

 The Explorer Sergeant (Sgt) is the third highest rank an Explorer can hold in the FW Program. The Sgt.  would take the place of the Lt. when s/he is absent

The Sgt. is an Admin position that oversees a special project in the post.   Currently we have two Sgt positions.   One is a Field training Explorer(FTE) and the other is Quartermaster.

The FTE is responsible to welcome new members to the post and make sure they are given the information they need to succeed.   It would be more described as a coach.

The Quartermaster is responsible for Explorer Equipment, including uniforms and any items that we would issue to members.

The Sgt would wear a gold chevron on the uniform to distinguish rank.
